Job Responsibilities
Supplemental Questions

+ Provides leadership for the Center for Academic Success which includes the new Academic Advising and Career Center, the Institute for Teaching Excellence, Library Information Services, the Academic Coaching and Tutoring Center and the College's supplemental instruction program; Directs all staff of the Center for Academic Success.

+ Provides leadership in planning and organizing innovations in teaching and learning. Serves as a master teacher and train others to do so; Classroom will serve as a laboratory. Lead, manage and further develop the Master Teacher Plan and the associated advisory group. Plans, directs, coordinates, and evaluates educational activities to support quality teaching and learning college-wide. In intensive partnership with the academic units - expands, generates and implements new ideas for improving classroom instruction, cultivating faculty confidence in teaching and driving innovations in teaching to maximize student success. Monitors faculty and student success data closely and adjust faculty development strategies accordingly. Integrated with the academic units, centrally responsible for the execution of strategies to improve student success in the classroom.

+ Oversees college-wide improvements in student retention and completion and the execution of the student retention and completion plan. Serves as a key member of the Quality Learning Council, the College's shared governance entity, and the Council for Academic and Student Affairs.


Minimum and Additional Requirements:

Master's degree and seven (7) years of innovative, student-oriented teaching at a college level. Demonstrated experience in areas related to faculty development, teaching excellence and learning. Earned doctorate highly preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated expertise as a master teacher; Extensive knowledge of factors that impact faculty success; Knowledge of successful and innovative teaching methods and curriculum development; Strong leadership skills and ability to engage and cultivate a high functioning team with high expectations and high accountability. Ability to train others to be master teachers; Ability to improve student success in the classroom; Keen data analytic skills, the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to think creatively and flexibly as it relates to teaching, faculty development, and student success. Ability to work collaboratively with administrators, faculty, staff, students and partners in business and education. Ability to travel the tri-county service area.
